a5 Spanish Cedar and Indian Almond trees grace the approach to the house at Montavia Estate in the mountains of Southern Costa Rica.
These tall trees grace the entry drive. The larger is a spanish cedar, known locally as Cedro. It's wood is much respected as a furniture grade hardwood. Cedro is a reforestation tree that provides overstory for other layers of forest regrowth. The other tree is a nut bearing source of food for a wide range of local and migrating wildlife.
